Project Overview

The client required a ‘sunroom’ extension to their house which was built in 1835. Using 172mm TEK panels and a single glulam beam, they created a light and airy, vaulted space that is very energy efficient, yet in-keeping with the older, original building.

Kingspan TEK was used for the following reasons: –

  • Higher insulation and less cold bridging
  • Reduced need for skilled tradesmen
  • No need to manually fit additional insulation
  • No damage to insulation by fitting services
  • Reduced wall thickness gave more internal space

The client has insulated the original building and has only turned the central heating on a few times as at early December with occasional secondary heating use for comfort; “With outside temperature varying from 3 to 10 degrees, temperature in the house varies from 15 to 18 degrees, with no heating”
